Reflection

Good Day!

Learning Foreign Language such as Nihongo (Katakana) is very interesting yet difficult for me. It seems like I am in my Day Care Days recognizing Alphabet. I was then a blank slate needed to be fed by my teacher. The struggle is real.

Cultural Mapping is one of the requirements we needed to comply in our subject. This activity was quite different to how it is supposed to be conducted because we were not able to visit the place to personally see the objects present there. We made several ways in order to gather the information that will contribute to the completion of our Mapping. Using different online platforms and site such as You tube, Google, Facebook and Messenger, I was able to successfully finish it. I also asked reliable persons who can provide me the facts I wanted to sourced out.

I am very thankful that I have done the cultural mapping on the religious objects found in the Municipality of Unisan and City of Lucena despite the Pandemic that we are facing right now. God bless! Be extra vigilant until we surpass this perilous time.

“ Humans learn by connecting culture with reflection.” And it’s make history.

Hello, I am Alvaro S, Acejo, a Master of Arts in Education student of Marinduque State College. I have taken the subject ‘Basic Foreign Language’ and learning the basics in Nihongo is a great help in fulfilling some of the requirements in the present subject.

I am assigned to look for sites  from the two of the four places stated by our professor, Doc. Randy. Currently, our country is facing

REFLECTION

A pleasant day to everyone, especially to our professor Dr, Randy T. Nobleza. Despite the global pandemic we are facing right now we, the MAED students strive hard to learn and enhance our knowledge for our professional growth and development. It’s been a challenge for me to do the various requirements needed for this subject because of our current situation.

Cultural Mapping also known as cultural resource mapping or cultural landscape mapping is the label organizations and people (including UNESCO) concerned about safeguarding cultural diversity give to a wide range of research techniques and tools used to map distinct peoples, tangible and intangible cultural assets within local landscapes around the world. Once you have identified these strengths they can be utilized to create a wide variety of outcomes, as demonstrated by the stories in the case studies. This will also serves as a crucial tool and technique in preserving the world’s intangible and cultural assets.

One component of cultural mapping is identifying the environmentally critical areas in one municipality, and that is the topic that was assigned to me. Environmentally critical areas are areas delineated as environmentally sensitive such that significant environmental impacts are expected if certain projects are located, developed or implemented in it. Getting the various data needed in this study has not been easy for me as what I have said earlier because of our current situation. But despite all of this I tried my best to gather some data essential for my study. The two municipalities that I have selected are Lucena and Unisan. The available information from the internet and from some people that I have known from the said municipality helps me a lot to gather the needed information. From the municipality of Lucena, it was already identified by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. IV-A (CALABARZON) that Mayao Parada Quadrangle located at Brgy. Mayao Parada Lucena City as one of the flood prone barangay in Lucena, City. Barangay Silangang Mayao  is a flood-prone area because of the sea  therein. It is considered as one of the flood prone area barangay based on the flood map susceptibility.  Another municipality that I have selected is UNISAN, Brgy. Bulo Ilaya is a barangay in the municipality of Unisan, in the province of Quezon. From the information available from the internet it was already identified that Brgy. Bulo area is one of the flood prone are in the said municipality.

Both Barangay on the two municipalities that I have chosen are prone to flooding and landslide. That’s why some of the structure and property are at risk whenever there is a typhoon/flood. Also, the residential houses and the community’s properties on the said barangay are also at risk.

Thank you for sharing your precious time to listen to my short reflection. A good day to all and peace be with you.

REFLECTION (ENGLISH)

The concept of identifying arts and cultural heritage of a certain municipality / city is a daunting task indeed; it will take up most of your time at effort but it is very important to compile them all for the future generations. They will appreciate them as we need when we are little like them. I remember when I was a kid I’m so fascinated with sculptures, paintings, markers and monument, but now aside from appreciating them I am fond of knowing its history, its stories and finding significance in them to me, as I now a teacher, I personally include them in my discussion and lectures. ARTS and CULTURE will still live in me and its importance will forever be necessary for identifying who I am as a person.

Jisho to Chizu: Knowing y/our Own Culture 2.0 Quarantine Edition

In due consideration of the Covid19 pandemic, which caused the declaration of a national emergency that effectively put the whole of Luzon under Enhanced Community Quarantine since March 15 up to April 30 and extended to May 15. The EdM02: Advanced Foreign Language (Nihongo/ Nippongo) class has previously required the learners to come up with deliverables in the course of seven meetings.

The Advanced Foreign Language course aims to develop learners to write, listen, read and talk Japanese. They were asked to accomplish writing sheets based on the Katakana chart. Then the EdM02 learners are supposed to produce hard and plastic covered copies of their 50 katakana flash cards. Then there is the perennial cultural in the towns of Quezon that would be the basis of Katakana flash cards and individual reflection o the mapping and translation process.

The Jisho to Chizu is the full fruition of both EdM01 and EdM02 courses about Hiragana and Katakana along with the Pecha Kucha presentations. The hansha are memorized and recited aloud during the last day of the class, the accomplished forms with the reflection sin Romaji, Katakana and English is collected and compiled in a proceedings. This time, the flash cards need not be printed or laminated. The reflection in Japanese during the culminating activity would be recording in the manner of vlog. The EdM02 learners are to utilize the online and digital resources available at their disposal.

Given the health issues and the state of new normal, the MSC School of Graduate and professional Studies is going to adopt the most recent innovations and platforms for the improvement of higher learning and advanced studies. With the help of net connectivity, persistence and innate creativity, everything shall pass for something much, much better.
